Shravana means hearing. The word is familiar from shravan, the act of listening to scripture, which is the first of the classical steps of learning. This is the star of taking something in properly before responding to it.
In Hindu mythology, Vishnu presides here, particularly in his Vamana avatar as Trivikrama. Vamana appeared as a dwarf before the demon king Bali, asked for three paces of land, and then grew until three strides covered the whole universe. The three footprints are Shravana's second symbol.
In that story something small and unassuming turns out to cover everything, and Shravana natives are often underestimated in exactly that way.
Its shakti (the special power a nakshatra carries) is connection. Listening joins people to each other, joins a student to a teacher, and joins one piece of information to the next.
The Hindu month of Shravan is named after this star and is one of the most observed in the calendar. Shravan Somvar fasting for Shiva, Raksha Bandhan and Onam all fall within it. The month is about devotion and listening, which is exactly what this nakshatra describes.
