Ketu is the south lunar node, and it works by subtraction. It is read for detachment, research, spiritual enquiry, sudden separation and skill that seems to arrive already learned. Ketu often removes your interest in something before it removes the thing itself. A person can reach a goal they worked years for and feel nothing at all standing in front of it. Ketu's sub-period inside Rahu's Mahadasha brings both nodes into play at once, as Rahu Mahadasha Ketu Antardasha explains.
In Hindu mythology Ketu is the body of the asura Svarbhanu, separated from the head that became Rahu when Vishnu cut him in two. Ganesha is worshipped for Ketu, which fits a graha associated with removing obstacles and with cutting things loose. A body without a head cannot want anything for itself. That image explains both the precision this graha gives and the strange emptiness it leaves. Ganesha worship is also one of the Ketu remedies, and this guide covers the others.
The house holding Ketu is where familiar rewards stop working. At its most useful this produces concentration on hidden systems, technical detail and questions that offer no public credit. It turns up in the charts of researchers, and of the people who fix what nobody else can find. Its difficult side includes abrupt breaks, alienation, confusion and the loss of something before a replacement exists. Detachment is not automatically peaceful and it is not evidence of spiritual progress. It often begins as numbness. Like Rahu, Ketu depends on its dispositor, because its own sign ownership and dignity remain disputed. The same house logic holds in transit, and Ketu in Ashlesha reads its 2026 to 2027 transit for all twelve ascendants.
